The author of Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Thomas Hardy, was born on June 2, 1840 in a rural region heathco llc of England, Dorset. Remained an obscure writer until the publication of Far from the Madding Crowd in 1874 and finally, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, published in 1891, once secured your financial future. This novel, followed by Jude the Obscure (1895) brought him fame and comfort, but also many hassles from the conservative society of the time.
Tess of the d'Urbervilles, the most famous of his novels, was brought to film by Roman Polanski in 1979 with Nastassja Kinski in the role of Tess Durbeyfield, the main character. This is the story of a beautiful girl from simple family, victim of circumstance, and of Christian morality and Victorian charm of its own. The father, Mr. John Durbeyfield is not much sense of responsibility, prefers to drink at work or devote to family. One day this man discovers, by chance, descended from a noble family, the d'Urbervilles, runs to the pub to break the news to friends and there hear that there is a lady d'Urbervilles very rich, living in the mansion, not far away from Marlott which is where Tess and their lives. Mr. John and wife, Mrs. Joan Durbeyfield, Tess send this lady with a mission to ask for financial aid. That's where the real problems begin Tess, Alec d'Urberville heathco llc exactly where the story goes. This he supposes to be his cousin, in reality it is not, Alec's father gathered a large fortune, but he lacked a noble name, he researched the history heathco llc of some families and decided to take this name 'loan' to give a 'polished' in the past. Tess is seduced, in today's terms we would say raped by Alec and loses the only value that a woman had at the time the honor. It continues until the end paying for a crime he did not commit, on the contrary, was the victim.
Sometime after Tess meets Angel, one of the most interesting characters in the novel, a free thinker, a man who abandoned the certainties and the path traced by his father to follow true to yourself, respecting your own way of seeing the world. Angel even with its refinement and goodness can understand and accept the drama of Tess, or rather need to leave their environment, come to Brazil and falling on his face, sorry to go back when it was too late.
Thomas Hardy comes mainly from that hypocrisy of Christian morality, male domination, the injustices of the Victorian heathco llc era linked to the idea of social class and the confusion and changes occurring at this time. The D'Urbervilles had a noble name, but it was only the family of Alec had money, but they were vulgar and attempted to deal with usurping a name. Disputes involving Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Jude the Obscure Hardy desaninaram to the point that he abandoned the novels heathco llc and started to devote himself entirely to poetry.
Also think Tess was never trduzido for Portuguese. You need to do it soon. Both Tess as Jude the Obscure are wonderful books. Far from the maddening crowd I ever read. September 27, 2006 22:59 Laish * said ...
