Initially developed by Facebook, he was released under an open source license in 2008 and is currently maintained by the Apache Foundation and employees. Designed in Java it has been touted as a great database, Cassandra is currently in use at Netflix, Twitter, Urban Airship, Constant Contact, Reddit, Cisco, OpenX, Digg, Cloudkick, Ooyala, and more companies that have large sets asset data. The largest known cluster of Cassandra has more than 300 TB of data in over 400 machines.
All data should fit a single line (disk) on a single machine in the cluster. Because the keys themselves lines are used for determining the nodes responsible entry alert for replicating their data, the amount of data associated with a single key has this upper limit;
A value of single entry alert column that can not be larger than 2 GB. (However, large values are read into memory when requested, so in practice "small number of MB" is more appropriate.);
